Religious Nichos and Tin Decor
Nichos, also known as retablos, are decorative religious altars used to display patron saints. They are usually small and built in a shadow box style. Their decor usually includes hinged doors and carved borders. Within the box is an image of a religious icon for whom the nicho was created, most often the Virgin of Guadalupe. Nichos are also commonly decorated with images of popular culture such as figures from the Loteria, Day of the Dead characters, and folk heroes.
