Buganvilla Mexican Imports is proud to be the largest wholesaler of Mexican Folk Art outside of Mexico

About Us

Buganvilla Imports has developed into a well established company whose purpose is to find high quality, traditional, Mexican arts and crafts most often located in remote villages throughout the country. In doing this, the buyers spend a few months each year exploring the diverse arts of each region of Mexico and discovering the most skilled artisans in each craft. Buganvilla works directly with the artisans helping them bring their products to the world market while increasing their knowledge on the expectations of quality for exportable goods.

As is the case with most progressing countries, Mexican artisans produce their craft from the ingredients found in their natural surroundings: the clay from the earth for ceramic pineapples and cocuchas, they use natural pigments extracted from plants and insects for dyeing woven purses and rugs, the wood from the copal trees for the carving of whimsical alebrijes, etc. The pieces created by the artisans in their family workshops use techniques passed on sometimes for hundreds of years from generation to generation; the most common tool used is the artisan's skilled and dedicated hands. Whether it is carving or forging, weaving or throwing, the time involved in forming many of the products Buganvilla imports require a few weeks from start to finish, thus creating one of a kind pieces worthy of admiration.

What makes Buganvilla differ from other importers of handcrafted art is that the owner is a Mexican national who has a genuine appreciation and knowledge of the beauty that Mexico has to offer, as well as a desire to better the lives of its native people.
